The Maltese Citizenship by Merit grants affluent investors indefinite residency in Malta and visa-free travel within the Schengen Zone for 90 days out of 180. Family members, including dependent children, parents, and grandparents, are also eligible.

Requirements
- Age Requirement: Applicant must be aged 18 years or older.
- Demonstrate ties with Malta and commit to making an exceptional contribution in the national interest of the country in the form of business investment or philanthropic endeavors.
- Establish a residence in Malta for at least 5 years (suggested minimum property investment of EUR 750,000 or a minimum annual property lease of EUR 17,500)
- Character: Be of good character, with no previous criminal history.
- Criminal Investigation: Applicant must not be the subject of a criminal investigation.
- Health: Applicant must be in good health and show proof of health insurance.
Process (10-12 months)
- Complete pre-assessment, KYC, and Eligibility Checks: Undergo pre-assessment, Know Your Customer (KYC), and eligibility checks.
- Submit a Letter of Intent to apply for the program including applicant’s background, achievements, and general plan to establish ties with Malta (including the intended form of contribution to the country).
- Secure a property in Malta (purchase or rent)
- Preparation of the residence application
- KYC and Source of Funds procedure
- Prepare proposal plan for deployment of funds, and submit the application for citizenship (residence card must be held for minimum of 8 months prior to citizenship application).
- Issuance of Maltese passport
