Requirements
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Valid Long-Stay Visa: Hold a valid Long-Stay visa for residence permit (VL-TS) visitor.
- Non-Working Commitment: Commit to not working in France during the stay.
- Financial Resources: Possess sufficient financial resources, reaching around least EUR 16,000 annually. A guarantee from a solvent person can also be provided. Family allowances are not considered in the resource evaluation.
- Health Insurance: Maintain a health insurance certificate covering the duration of the stay in France.
Note: European citizens do not need to apply for a visitor’s residence permit but can apply for an EU long-term resident card.
Process
- Long-Stay Visa Application: Apply for a Long-Stay Visa for a residence permit (VS-TS) at the French Consulate in your residing country.
- Submit Application: Submit the application online or at the prefecture or sub-prefecture of your residence no earlier than 4 months and no later than 2 months before the current visa’s validity ends.
- Certificate of Deposit: Receive a dematerialized certificate of deposit.
- Prefecture Appointment: If accepted, attend an appointment at the prefecture for the permit’s delivery.
- Card Receipt: Collect the card from the prefecture or sub-prefecture of your residence, depending on the application location.
- Processing Fee: EUR 225.00
Renewal: To renew the Visitor Residence Card, submit the renewal application online at least 2 months before and no earlier than 4 months before the current residence document’s validity ends (visa, VLS-TS).
