Requirements
- Qualifying Investment: Maintain the qualifying investment for
4 years. - Health and Character: Satisfy New Zealand’s health and character requirements.
- English Language Proficiency: Main applicant must achieve an IELTS score of 5.
- Physical Presence: Main applicant must spend at least 117 days in New Zealand during the 4-year investment period.
- Lawful Funds: Provide evidence that the investment funds were earned or acquired lawfully.
Investment Types
New Zealand Active Investor Plus Visa requires investors to invest between NZD 5 million – 15 million in various asset classes. Each asset class is weighted differently, and an investor may invest across a combination of classes to reach a minimum NZD 15 million threshold:
- Direct Investment in approved private local businesses: given a 3x weighting (minimum investment NZD 5 million)
- Approved Private Equity or Venture Capital funds: given a 2x weighting (minimum investment NZD 7.5 million)
- Listed Equities and Philanthropy: given a 1x weighting, with this option capped at 50% of the NZD 15 million requirement for the program (minimum investment NZD 7.5 million into listed equities and NZD 7.5 million in eligible philanthropic causes)
Process
- Eligibility Assessment: Ensure eligibility for the program.
- Application Submission: Submit an Active Investor Plus application pack, estimated 4 months to Approval in Principle.
- Transfer Funds: Transfer investment funds to New Zealand within 6 months. Staggered releases into qualifying investments over 3 years, maintained for a further year.
- Apply for PR: Apply for Permanent Residency after 4 years.
