Canada Start-up
Visa Program

The Canada Startup Visa is a program launched by the Canadian government to attract innovative entrepreneurs from around the world to establish their startup businesses in Canada. It aims to foster economic growth and job creation by supporting the development of high-potential startups.

Advantage

Access to Global Talent:

Entrepreneurs can recruit talent globally to support their startup ventures, enabling access to diverse skill sets and expertise.

Permanent Residency:

Successful applicants and their families receive permanent residency in Canada, providing stability and access to benefits such as healthcare and education.

Supportive Ecosystem:

Canada offers a supportive ecosystem for startups, with access to mentors, incubators, accelerators, and networking opportunities to aid in the growth of their businesses.

Access to Funding:

Accepted entrepreneurs gain access to funding from designated Canadian venture capital funds, angel investor groups, or business incubators, which can fuel the growth of their startups.

Requirements

Commitment Certificate: The applicant indeed needs a commitment certificate from a designated organization, but it’s important to note that this commitment is in the form of investment or support for the applicant’s startup venture, rather than simply a certificate.

Ownership Requirement: The applicant is required to hold at least 10% of the voting shares in the business, but there is no specific requirement regarding the percentage of shares held jointly with the designated organization. The applicant must demonstrate that they, along with the designated organization, have control over more than 50% of the voting shares, but the exact percentage held by each party can vary.

Operation and Management: Correct, the applicant must operate and manage the business venture once it is established in Canada.

Language Requirements: The Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level required for the language proficiency test varies depending on the language (English or French) and the skill area (speaking, reading, listening, and writing). Generally, a minimum of CLB 5 is required for each skill area, but specific requirements may vary.

Sufficient Funds: The applicant must indeed demonstrate that they have enough funds to support themselves and any dependents after arriving in Canada. The exact amount required may vary and is subject to change, so it’s essential to check the most up-to-date information from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Health and Criminal Record: Correct, the applicant and their family members must be in good health and have no criminal record. This requirement is standard for all immigration applications to Canada.
